Storm Damage
Assure Exteriors has helped numerous homeowners when their property has sustained storm damage, specifically wind or hail damage. Most homeowners' insurance policies will pay to replace the roof and other items such as gutters, siding, front doors, garage doors, and window screens, if deemed storm-damaged. Homeowners in Georgia can make a 5-10 minute phone call to their insurance company and file a claim. After short review, the insurance company typically sends their company adjuster or independent adjuster to your property to: 1) inspect the property for damage, 2) determine whether the insurance company will pay for the damage, 3) and if yes, how much is paid out considering your deductible (out-of-pocket expense per claim), and 4) possibly pay your claim on the spot with a check. Sounds easy!
For many homeowners, having insurance foot the bill for a new roof or gutters is a dream come true, especially if water is getting inside the house. Others are not so lucky. Maybe you are one of those who got denied by your insurance company. Why? They said you had no hail damage or "not enough damage." If you were not on the roof during the inspection, or had no one representing you, how can you refute the insurance company findings? Just because your neighbors got new roofs does not automatically mean you will.
Usually you can ask for a second inspection and a different adjuster to inspect your property. Only this time, make sure you are represented. Be Sure with Assure. We have helped many homeowners in the Atlanta area succeed in getting their roofs and other damaged property paid for by insurance. Here's what we do for you:
- Climb and inspect the roof and property to determine if legitimate damage exists
- Take pictures of the suspected damage and discuss those with you
- Measure and diagram the roof indicating any damaged areas or maintenance issues
- Create a professional inspection report highlighting any damages with supporting pictures
- Create a professional estimate to submit to the insurance company
- Meet with the adjuster and walk the roof together
The adjustment appointment is your critical event. If you are not professionally represented at this meeting your odds of success are much lower. How good is your roofer? Will he actually show up the day of the adjustment, or better yet, will he be on time or even early? Has he worked with your adjuster before? Can he quickly build rapport with an adjuster he doesn't know? When the adjuster says "I'm not finding enough damage," can your roofer professionally build a case for getting the roof awarded, even if the damage is marginal?
The answers to these questions will determine whether you get your roof paid for or not by insurance. You probably won't get a new roof paid for if: 1) your current roofer shows up for the appointment but does not climb on the roof with the adjuster, 2) your roofer is afraid of heights, 3) your roofer is afraid to climb a steep roof, or 4) your roofer never shows up that day (very common occurrence). If your roofer is a know-it-all and starts arguing with the adjuster, FA-GET-ABOUT-IT. Don't let this happen.
